The Role

We are seeking a hands-on Software Engineering intern to help us transition our technology from MATLAB into Python. Your mission will be to translate MATLAB code into Python, focusing on the K-Wave toolbox (a MATLAB toolkit for simulating acoustic wave fields). By moving away from MATLAB’s licensed environment into Python’s free and flexible ecosystem, you’ll help make our ultrasound simulation tools more accessible and easier to integrate into research and development workflows. 

The Job

As our Software Engineering Intern, you are working on code that is vital to our operations. You’ll shape the future of dynamic ultrasound by:

  • Collaborating with our AI/ML team to improve ultrasound image generation pipelines.
  • Understanding and translating the MATLAB K-wave toolbox to Python code. 
  • Adapting Usono’s algorithms currently dependent on MATLAB to run in Python.
  • Adhering to Usono’s way of working, toolset and best practices.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a motivated technical student that is eager to learn and make a difference.

  • Studying computer science, software engineering, or a related field
  • Proficient in Python and familiar with MATLAB (C/C++ experience is a plus)
  • Comfortable with tools like VS Code, GitHub, and/or Confluence
  • Enthusiastic about open-source development and impactful MedTech innovation.
